Niko Faust – born in 1981 - is audio engineer (university diploma), music producer & songwriter
. He works at the recording studios Maarwegstudio 2
, and in his own mixing room in Essen (Klangwelt Studio
). In his work, he sets value on invention, diligence and a certain articulateness of the musical statement.
He completed his studies in sound and video engineering at the University of Applied Sciences and the Musikhochschule Düsseldorf
in March of 2010 with his diploma thesis discussing dynamic compression in pop music. In his main subject he studied keyboards and jazz piano under Xaver Fischer
; Niko likes synthesizers and he is member of a live electro act with fellow musician Lorenz Rhode
, playing gigs at the Scala Club Berlin or at the Open Source Festival in Duesseldorf in 2009, for instance.
Nevertheless, he considers the guitar just as important as the synthesizer, which is why he plays it too. He writes songs and participated in the Universal Music Publishing Songwriter Meeting twice. You can gather an impression of his compositions to moving pictures in movies by Maksym Kashevarov and Ozan Ozbanazi.
In the studio facilities of former EMI studios in Cologne, Niko started as constant assistant of music producer Wolfgang Stach, but he soon had the opportunity to carry out productions as an engineer together with other magnificent producers, e.g. Lillo Scrimali
, Kiko Masbaum, Pete Kirtley
and Ben Bazzazian
. Since 2005 his regular workspace has been the OB van of WDR Köln, a big German radio station, where he recorded live appearances of bands such as the WDR Big Band, Maximo Park or Kings Of Leon.
